Why study in Dubai (UAE)?
Dubai lets you earn a degree from a UK, Australian or Indian university without going to that country. Most universities are international branch campuses in free zones such as Dubai Knowledge Park and Dubai International Academic City.
These campuses are licensed by Dubai's Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA). Its quality board (UQAIB) checks that the programme taught in Dubai is the same accredited programme taught at the home campus.
Your university usually sponsors your student residence visa. Fees vary widely by university, so compare the full cost of each course before you apply.
- 41 KHDA-licensed higher education providers, 37 of them international branch campuses (KHDA, July 2025).
- International students made up 35% of students at Dubai's private universities in 2024–25, up 29% in a year.
- Programmes taught in Dubai are validated by KHDA's UQAIB to match the home-campus accredited programme.
- Indian universities have campuses here too, including BITS Pilani and Manipal; IIM Ahmedabad was confirmed for 2025–26.
- Many universities take students in September and January, and some also in April or May.
- Graduates of free-zone universities can have their degrees certified by KHDA for work in Dubai.

- Certificate from the university stating the length of study
- Recent colour photo with a white background
- Copy of passport
- Medical examination approved by the authorities
- Emirates ID application receipt
- Health insurance

Work and employment options
- While you study
- Only with a separate MOHRE work permit, such as the student training and employment permit (valid for 3 months)
- After you graduate
- There is no dedicated post-study work visa. Graduates can apply for a jobseeker visit visa (60, 90 or 120 days) if they graduated from one of the world's top 500 universities in the last 2 years, or hold a bachelor's and fall in MOHRE skill levels 1–3. You then need an employer-sponsored work permit. After a student permit is cancelled you have a 60-day grace period.
- To stay and work, you need an employer to sponsor a MOHRE work permit and residence visa.
- The jobseeker visit visa (60, 90 or 120 days) lets eligible graduates look for work without a sponsor.
- A 10-year Golden residence is open to top graduates: GPA 3.5+ from a top-100 world university, within 2 years of graduating.
- Graduates of UAE Ministry-licensed universities can qualify for the Golden residence with GPA 3.5 (Category A) or 3.8 (Category B).
- KHDA can certify degrees from Dubai free-zone universities for employment in Dubai.
Good to know: Dubai's branch campuses are licensed by KHDA rather than the federal Ministry. Check your programme in KHDA's directory, and check its recognition in India, before you pay a deposit.
